A November 2024 feature highlighted Coach Phil Huynh of Tri-Valley, who has been a key mentor to top NHL prospect Macklin Celebrini. Huynh, a longtime Tri-Valley hockey coach (and the club’s Hockey Director), began working with the Bay Area-raised Celebrini brothers in 2020, after their father – a Golden State Warriors performance director – sought extra training during pandemic rink shutdowns. Often seen running skills sessions in Livermore and Dublin, Coach Phil played a role in developing Macklin Celebrini, who would go on to be the San Jose Sharks’ 2024 #1 draft pick. Huynh’s journey (the Canadian-born son of Vietnam War refugees) and his connection to a rising star brought national attention to Tri-Valley’s coaching caliber.
