Time to hit the ice!

Hello Peewee Families!

It’s time for the Tri-Valley Blue Devils in house hockey league to begin! I am sure you are all excited about the upcoming season and have been anxiously waiting for Hockey to begin!

My name is Dean Miyao, I will be your Head Coach this season. Growing up in Michigan I started playing hockey at an early age and have a great love for the game. We have a wonderful coaching staff with plenty of experience on the ice and we look forward to helping your child learn how to develop their skills and techniques, so they too can learn to love the game!

For those of you who I already know, I look forward to seeing you again and for those new to Tri-Valley, I look forward to meeting you soon!

Opening Day:

First night of skating and Parent Meeting is Saturday, September 6th. Arrive at Dublin ice by5:00 PM. Bring completed paperwork, your child and their equipment.

For those of you who are new to the program, I will have a 15 - 20 minute meeting shortly after I get practice started on Saturday. For returning members, please join if you want, but not required.

REQUIRED FORMS:

Please bring your paper work. Fill out these forms before you arrive. Bring them with you on Saturday, September 6. If you cannot make it Saturday, bring them the first time you come to the rink.

Your child cannot participate until the following forms are completed. Please print out attachments, complete and bring with you on the first day of practice.

1.    Copy of the USAH registration paperwork

2.    Copy of the player’s birth certificate (if you are new to TVMHA)

3.    Signed players code of conduct form

4.    Signed consent to treat form.

5.    Signed concussion acknowledgement form

Please note: NO Forms, NO Hockey play.

Locker Rooms… DO NOT CHANGE IN THE LOBBY. DO NOT CHANGE IN THE LOBBY. DO NOT CHANGE IN THE LOBBY. If you are new to Dublin or Livermore Ice, just ask anyone who looks like they know what is going on where the old locker rooms are.

Important Dates, schedule and attendance:

The basic schedule for the season will be posted soon and can be found on our Team Page under House Peewee Calendar: The ice times will stay the same throughout the season, but specific "events" may change, e.g., games, and practices and so on. Our tentative ice schedule will be as follows:

Saturday – Dublin Iceland – 5:45 PM – 7:30 PM (Game night, except during evaluations)

Sunday – Dublin Iceland – 7:45 AM – 9:15 AM

Thursday – Livermore Tri-Valley Ice – 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

During the course of the season, I will send out a Game and Practice notices/reminders. To ensure the best possible hockey experience and to maximize your child's ice time, please let me know if your child will not be attending prior to games so that I can organize lines and teams.

In order to make our season successful, we do need parents to volunteer for a variety of OPEN positions below. If you are interested, please contact me.

1. Coaches

2. Locker Room Monitor (4)

3. Goalie Coordinator

4. Concussion Monitor

5. Clock/score keeper operator

6. Saturday Night Hockey Coordinator

For 1 and 2, you will need to be screened by USA Hockey. Details to follow… You will be reimbursed for the screening fees.

Peewee Teams:

We have 50 participants (to date) this season that will be divided into four teams.  Each team will have one Head Coach and an assistant coach.

My goal is to have four balanced teams. To achieve a proper balance, we will spend the first three weeks evaluating players and forming teams.

In order to keep a balance among the teams, I will make "trades" during the beginning of the season. Also, from time to time one team may come up short on game night and we will ask players from the other team(s) to move temporarily so that both teams have an equal number of players.

-       All teams will practice together.

-       The roster for all players can be found on the Tri-Valley web site here: Peewee Roster

Jerseys:

All participants will need a Tri-Valley hockey jersey this season. On the first day, the Club Equipment Manager will be there to coordinate/confirm sizing. If you have one from last season, and it still fits, you may use that one. Sorry, but we cannot guarantee jersey numbers.

Equipment:

Before your child steps on the ice, the following equipment is required.

·  HECC approved helmet and mask in safe condition with chin AND face mask straps

·  Stick (here is a great tutorial on how to size a hockey stick)

·  Hockey Skates (sharpened to 1/2” or 5/8” hollow)

·  Hockey pants w/ suspenders

·  Elbow pads

·  Hockey Gloves

·  Athletic supporter (girls too)

Thank you!
